August Stats

Real life was busy, so it was a very slow knitting month.

All in all I finished 1 pair of socks and 1 shawl. I also made some good progress on a second pair of socks. In total, I used up 3 balls of yarn/ 831 yards of yarn. I didn't quite make it to 1,000 yards, but there's always next month.

Ursula

 Pattern: My own vanilla socks

Yarn: Neeley's Knits Super sock in Ursula

Needles: US Size 2 DPNs

Started on: Aug. 8th

Finished on: Aug 27th

Comments: With self striping yarn, really the yarn does all the work. I would have finished these sooner, but there was a lot of stuff happening this month. So really not too much knitting time. It was nice to work on these socks, because it was easy to pick up and put down as needed. This is another pair that I'm keeping for myself. I love these colors.

WIP Wednesday

My poor blog has been neglected this month. It's been a super busy month in real life, that knitting has taken a back seat. I think September will be a better knitting month. I'm behind on my sock knitting. I was supposed to finish pair # 4 a couple days ago, if I was to stay on track. So I have to make up some time.

I'm working on the second Ursula sock. This is another self striping sock yarn with contrasting yarn for the heels and toes from Neeley's Knits. I hope I can get this finished before the week is over!

Scrap Happy

This scrappy blanket is addicting. So far I've knit 9 squares.  I'm trying to alternate between variegated and sold squares.  I'm enjoying this very much. The only thing I don't love is weaving in all the ends. I'm going to try to weave them in as I go.

WIP Wednesday

After seeing a friend on Rav's scrap yarn blanket, I decided I needed to start one. So here we go.

I gathered all of my sock yarn scraps to make a scrappy blanket. I'm using the memory blanket pattern from Tikki Knits. I sorted the yarn into variegated and solids.

So I Gather

Pattern: So I Gather designed by Susan Ashcroft

Yarn: Neeley's Knits Ink Blot Blank in Sparkle in Rain on Morning Glories

Needles: US Size 6

Started on: July 30th

Finished on: Aug 7th

Comments: This was my first time using an ink blot blank. It was very interesting. As I mentioned in the previous post. It's benefits are takes up less room and time saved by not needing to wind the yarn. The yarn doesn't get tangled and such. It's hard to tell from the blank how the yarn will knit up guess how it will look. I got really lucky that this yarn and pattern played nicely together. I'm very happy with the results. I really like the shape of this shawl. It's a bit on the smaller size though, so I may end up giving this one to my Mom. (She likes small shawls).

WIP Wednesday: Ink Blot Blank

This is my first time knitting an ink blot blank.
It's interesting. It's hard to tell looking at it how it will knit up. It's nice that it seems to save space. In that I can just fold it up. It also saves time because I don't have to wind the yarn. The yarn also doesn't get all tangled. It's just ready to use.

I chose to knit the So I Gather shawl pattern, because I think it's a simple enough pattern to show off the colors of the yarn. I'm enjoying working on this shawl. It's interesting to see the different colors and how they will knit up.

July Stats

In July I only finished 3.5 balls of yarn/ 1,164 yards.

I finished 3 pairs of socks and 1 wrap. It wasn't my best knitting month, but over 1,000 yards is good. So I'll take it. Next month will be another busy month in real life, so I'm not sure how much knitting time I'll have.
