March Stats

In March, I finished 1 pair of socks and 3 shawls. In total I used up 6 balls of yarn/ 1,752 yards.  This is my highest yardage for a single month in a very long time. I don't think I'll be able to repeat this amount in April.

WIP: Tiny Tea Leaves

I've been sick, so I haven't been knitting too much. I decided to make the Tiny Tea Leaves Cardigan for the girls. I finished the body of the first one. It still needs sleeves and the button band. I decided to knit the body of the second one. (No photo of the second one because I barely started it.) And when that's finished I'll knit the sleeves for both cardigans and the button bands.

I also started a pair of socks, but they are barely cast on, so no photo of that one either.

Twitterpated

Pattern: None

Yarn: Neeley's Knits Sports weight in Twitterpated

Needles: US Size 3 DPNs

Started on: Feb. 7th

Finished on: Mar. 26th

Comments: This is a plain K3, P1 rib. There's no good reason why this sock took me this long to knit. I just kept putting it down in favor of other projects. I'm glad to have this one off the needles. I think I finally hunkered down and finished it because I really wanted a new pair of socks for me.

Shaelyn

Pattern: Shaelyn designed by Leila Raabe

Yarn: Lara Smoot Designs Gradient in Pretty In Pink

 Needles: US Size 6

Started on: Mar. 1st

Finished on: Mar. 19th

Comments/Modifications: I knit one extra repeat of the main pattern. I knit all the repeats the same. I didn't do the different stitch in the last repeat as the pattern stated, because I forgot to. I don't think it's anything noticeable.

I always enjoy working with gradients and see the color progression. It makes me knit faster to get to the next color. This was a fun shawl to knit, most of it is mindless and makes for great TV knitting.

WIP: This and That

My knitting is a bit of randomness lately. It's a bit of this and that. I found some languishing UFOs that I'd like to finish up.

Juno Regina - I just started this yesterday. So there's not much to see yet. I finished the first chart. The yarn I'm using is the lovely Lorna's Laces in Helen's Laces in Cranberry. This lives in my sheepy project bag.

Hitchhiker - I re-found this older project recently and put a few more rows on it. I don't remember why I put it aside in the first place. The yarn is Neeley's Knits in BFL/Silk in Elsa's Ice Castle. This lives in my cats project bag.

Cinder Block socks - This is another knit that I re-found. I really love this yarn and color. It's Claudia's Handpainted yarns in fingering weight in Blue Ridge Blue. This lives in my daytime owls bag.

Twitterpated - No photo of this one, because I'm ashamed to say that I didn't work on it at all since last week. This lives in my nighttime owls bag.

25

I've not worked on this in a long while, but last week I managed to knit a few new squares. I'm up to 25 now.

WIP

Shaelyn -This yarn is Lara Smoot Designs in Pretty in Pink colorway. It's a beautiful gradient yarn. I'm getting so close to the part where it changes to the new color. Must knit faster! So far I've knit 3 repeats of the main chart of the shawl. I'm really enjoying knitting on this shawl.

Twitterpated - It's pitiful how little work I put in on this sock this week. The only time I've worked on it was waiting in line at the DMV. It's my basic K3, P1 ribbed socks on Neeley's Knits Sports weight in the Twitterpated colorway. This is the second sock. I hope to put a real dent in it and at least be on the heel turn or foot by next week.

198 Yards of Heaven

Pattern: 198 Yards of Heaven

Yarn: Neeley's Knits in Worsted Superwash merino/camel blend in Mean Girls inspired We Wear Pink On Wednesdays

Needles: US Size 8

Started on: Mar 11th

Finished on: Mar 13th

Comments: I only had 200 yards of this yarn, so it seemed like the perfect project. I'm not usually into little shawls, but this one is really pretty.

This is one of the first Neeley's Knits yarns purchases. It was my first time using camel yarn. It's incredibly soft and has a tiny bit of fuzziness to it.  The colors will also suit DD # 1, so this one will be hers.

Into the Woods

Pattern: Into the Woods designed by Marva

Yarn: Neeley's Knits in Super Sock in Light Grey

Needles: US Size 4

Started on: Feb. 26th

Finished on: Mar 11th

Comments: I had the privilege to test knit this beautiful owl shawl. It's an enjoyable knit.
The yarn is one that I got custom dyed from Neeley's Knits. I love how squishy and soft this yarn is to work with. I'm very happy with how well the yarn and pattern play together.

Also if you haven't already, you should check out this pattern on Ravelry. Marva's generously offered it for free.

WIP: Owls!

I've been working monogamously on the test knit owls shawl. It's going smoothly now. I've used up 2 entire balls of yarn. And I'm in the final stretch and have 13 rows left to knit. I'm so excited and can't wait to block it. I love the way the snowy owls look!

WIP: Knitting ADD

Because I had so much ripping and thinking for my primary knitting project, the snowy owls; I felt the need to have many simpler projects on the needles.

1) I cast on for another TGV. This time I'm using Neeley's Knits Super sock base gradient yarn Mystic Unicorn. I've also been really wanting to use a gradient yarn again. This is the perfect mindless knit. I love seeing how this yarn is going to knit up. I can't wait to get to some of that blue in the middle.

2) Because TGV wasn't enough, I also cast on for Shaelyn. This shawl has been in my queue forever. I'm using mt newly purchased yarn, Lara Smoot Designs in the Pretty in Pink colorway. I love these colors. Yay for more gradient yarn! I love me some purples and pinks! This project is so girly and pretty! I love it so much!

3)  I'm still chugging away on my Twitterpated socks. I finally finished the first sock and am starting the second one.

4) Very little progress on my Twinkle Twinkle Baby blanket. It's coming along slowly.

5) No progress on my Elongated corded rib socks this week, so no photo of this.

So many projects to knit, so little time.

Test Knitting

My primary knitting has been my Snowy Owls shawl that I'm test knitting for a friend. I've had to rip back more times then I would like. And it's been challenging for me. I'm determined to persevere.

We won't talk about the number of times I've ripped this thing back. Just this week, I ripped back because the beginning of my owls were not aligning with the pattern. So rip rip rip... then I noticed a mistake even earlier...so more rip rip rip..... I think I'm turning into a frog with all this rip rip ripping... hehheh.... I've not fully recovered to where I was before, but I think I'm on the right track. I'm now two rows into the leaf cap section and I have 13 sections. I counted many times to be sure... so hopefully this time it will be right...

I'm still in love with the pattern as well as my yarn. My yarn is Neeley's Knits in Super Sock in a light grey that I asked Ashley to custom dye for me. I love it so much and I can't wait to see/knit some grey snowy owls!
